GAINESVILLE, Florida – Florida have their second or future player selected in the 2021 MLB Draft, likely giving the coach Kevin O’Sullivan a clearer picture of who he can expect to be on campus next fall when he begins building his 2022 team.

With the 26th pick overall in the 2021 MLB Draft, the Minnesota Twins have selected the signer Chase small, a popular right-handed pitcher. The MLB Draft slot value for the No. 26 overall pick is 2,653,400, so Petty has plenty of reasons to go pro while skipping a college baseball career.

He’s a rocket-armed right-handed launcher who has become something of a social media sensation for his clips online.

“I mean it’s just correlated, honestly,” Petty told ESPN’s broadcast team. “I mean, what I got from my social media and my followers is mostly from baseball and they all constantly talked to me and asked me about baseball, and I talk to them as much as I can. They are awesome. .

“Mine that I got recently, because of baseball, they’re all great. Being that kind of guy that kids look up to is such a surreal feeling.”

Petty finished 5-1 as a senior at Mainland Regional High School in New Jersey, while compiling a 1.15 ERA and registering 99 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched. He is the second of several players with Florida ties to be selected in the 2021 MLB Draft, although he certainly won’t be the last.

Florida right-handed pitcher signing André Painter was selected No.13 overall by the Philadelphia Phillies, the first UF-linked player to make the draft.

Current players include Florida outfielder Jud Fabian and pitcher Tommy Mace both have a shot at being selected in the first round on Sunday night. Meanwhile, the outfielder Jay allen is a signer who could hear his name called on Sunday night.
