The Xiaomi 12T series will have a 200MP camera

I’ve seen few low-end phones could do bigger megapixels, but the chipset just couldn’t handle it.

And Chinese phone makers have this kind of approach. Unfortunately, nowadays their prices have also increased. But their software update policy is the same as before (average).

28 minutes agoI don’t understand why Xiaomi’s mid-range smartphone is still selling gimmick features. 200MP… morea52s camera quality is comparable to iphone 8 plus🤔
but still, the a52s still loses the 8 plus.

8 hours agothe usual Chinese approach. we need more moar of moar to sell moar!don’t forget the ram amount 😃😃

On mirrorless cameras, lens manufacturers don’t even bother to correct for geometric distortion at the widest end of standard zoom lenses and let barrel distortion run wild partly because they get expect most photos to be taken in the middle of the zoom range.

I admit what zte axon 40 Ultra did, I just wish they implemented better optics and more efficient OIS.

Just the same approach.

Watch 12s Ultra versus Aquos R7. Both with the same imx989.
Xiaomi has 23mm against 18mm (cropped to 19mm) of R7.
The 12s Ultra bump is much thicker.

Wider lens = thinner module

Fa14bi, 10 hours agoThe RX 100 range clearly loses against them, not being at all close in terms of stabilization… more1) the dynamic range decreases if you use jpeg compared to raw. The sensor has a maximum DR that it is physically capable of producing. These mobile sensors do not go beyond 11.

2) you can’t compare the DR of a mobile phone using HDR to a camera using SDR. You are not comparing the same condition.

No, the camera produces higher quality photos, not just better white balance. Even with slightly larger sensors, crap plastic lenses, too much noise reduction, and huge sharpness make the phones lose out to the cybershot.

My one year old Xiaomi 11T for £400 with a 108 megapixel camera takes crappy photos. Very unrealistic. Always wrong colors. I catch a lot of food and they always look bad. I never like what I see. The selfie camera is also very bad.

S

., 10 hours agoSure, but the phone is with me everywhere. No need for super quality, just acceptable. My point is… moreI only have one camera on my aging iPhone XR and frankly don’t need or want more. I don’t want to think “should I use ultrawide or just wide or maybe telephoto” and fumble with the phone. I just launched the camera app and took pictures. No thinking, no tinkering, nothing. I don’t need 5 useless cameras.

Anonymous, 10 hours agoThen you should not consider using the phone. Even phones like 12s Ultra and Aquos R7 get a spanking… moreThe RX 100 line clearly loses against them, not being close at all in terms of stabilization or dynamic range.

They just look a bit more natural and have less quality difference when zoomed in
