Tecno has announced new smartphones as part of its Tecno Camon 17 series in the Indian market. The new devices carry the nicknames Tecno Camon 17 and Tecno Camon 17 Pro. They contain great features and are offered at affordable prices. The Camon 17 series is Tecno’s new bet for reach popularity in the competitive mid-range market in India.
Tecno Camon 17 Specifications
The Tecno Camon 17 displays a 6.8-inch Full HD + IPS LCD screen with a screen resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels. It also has a brightness of 500 nits and a refresh rate of 90 Hz with a touch response rate of 180 Hz. Underneath the smartphone is the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. You can also expand the storage up to 256 GB via a microSD card.
The handset contains a quad rear camera with a combination of a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP wide-angle sensor and two 2 MP shooters with a quad-LED flash. For the front there is a 16 MP AI selfie camera with f / 2.0 aperture and dual flash. In addition, the phone has an AI TAIVOS chip that helps improve low-light photographs.
The Tecno Camon 17 is powered by a 5000mAh battery and comes with an 18W fast charger. The device runs on HiOS v7.6, based on Android 11 and comes with Game Turbo 2.0. Other features include Dirac powered stereo speakers and an anti-theft alarm. The device also has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.00, GPS, GNSS, dual SIM and USB Type-C port.

In terms of specifications, the Tecno Camon 17 Pro has a 6.8-inch Full HD + IPS LCD display with the same resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels. This variant also offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a tactile response rate of 180 Hz. Under the hood, the smartphone contains an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G95 processor as well as a Mali-G76 GPU. The phone is paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
In terms of optics, the handset comes equipped with a four-camera setup. It includes a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP wide-angle sensor and two 2 MP shooters as well as a quad-LED flash. For the front, the handset has a 48 MP AI Selfie camera with f / 2.2 aperture and dual flash. In addition, the handset comes with a special TAIVOS AI chip that helps improve low light photographs. It also comes with Movie Master, 4K 0 FPS Clear Recording, Portrait Night Scene Video, and AI Smart Selfies.
The Pro variant is powered by a 5000mAh battery with a 33W fast charger. It runs Android 11 HiOS 7.6 and also offers stereo speakers tuned by Dirac. Other specs are similar to Camon 17 Vanilla.
Pricing and availability
The Tecno Camon 17 will cost INR 12,999 for the 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (~ $ 175). The device has three colors – Frost Silver, Spruce Green and Magnet Black. The Pro variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage will cost INR 16,999 (~ $ 228) and is available in just one colourway – Arctic Down.
