The latest leaks of the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in August 2021 appear to reveal the full lineup for the tech giant’s upcoming smartphone and wearable reveal.

It’s leaking season, and rumors abound regarding upcoming announcements from Google, Apple, and Samsung. The next Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for August 11. Of course, we already have a pretty good idea of what Samsung will come up with, thanks to the famous leaker Evan Blass.

Smart phones

Samsung has led the resurgence of foldable phones, so it’s no surprise that the leaks include the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 will be Samsung’s foldable flagship in 2021, opening like a book to reveal a larger screen, like the Galaxy Z Fold2 before it.

Probable packaging Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, it will feature a more water and dust resistant design. It may also be the first Samsung phone to have a front-facing camera below the screen. This would eliminate the need for cutouts and notches at the top of the screen.

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold3 may also support the S Pen – the home province of the Galaxy Note and later the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Meanwhile, clamshell-style clamshell smartphones open vertically like an old-fashioned Star Trek communicator. The concept dates back to the 1990s with the Motorola Startac and the Nokia Communicator. Perhaps the most well-known flip phone was the original Motorola Razr.

Unlike the first flip phones, the new generation of flip phones has a small external display visible when the device is “closed”.

Samsung will likely skip the Flip2 and switch from the original Flip straight to the Galaxy Z Flip3 unless you think of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G as the Flip2.

It looks like the Flip3 will feature a slightly smaller body, while still managing to incorporate a larger external display. It will likely only be a 5G model.

Ready to wear

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch smartwatches are reportedly getting an upgrade. They will run the One UI Watch overlay on Watch OS rather than Tizen.

The One UI overlay is similar to that used on Samsung smartphones and tablets. Google and Samsung will merge Wear OS and Tizen – “Wear” – for the benefit of all.

Smartwatch fans should expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic. They retain the rotating bezel and two large buttons on the right edge, found on previous models.

The Watch4 is expected to offer a choice of 40 or 44 millimeter body, with the Watch4 Classic moving up to a choice of 42 or 46 millimeter.

Finally, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Buds2. We don’t know if they are the successors of the original Samsung Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds or the new Galaxy Buds Pro. Successors to the Pro are more likely to include features like active noise cancellation and waterproofing.

GadgetGuy’s point of view

What more do we want from the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked August 2021? It would be great to see the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, a “Fan Edition” follow in the footsteps of last year’s S20 FE. The Fan Editions are more affordable models of the flagship Galaxy S model.

The S21 FE is expected to use the Snapdragon 888 powerhouse. But its release could be for the US and Europe only due to chip shortages. Due to these shortages, it seems unlikely that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will even make an appearance at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event.
