Sounds cool, but … The difference in real life should be big enough to make up for the inevitable dust issues after a year or two.

Alpha, 14 hours agoNo more gadgets that nobody needs, a drop and its goal bye bye!Look for someone who doesn’t care about cameras. I wouldn’t expect you to care about phones with cool cameras, but to say it’s a stupid idea then you’re brain dead or something. This is why people like you cannot appreciate things.

joe nods, 20 hours agoCool so release it on a phone. They plan to do this in the future once it is perfected.

Alpha, 14 hours agoNo more gadgets that nobody needs, a drop and its goal bye bye!Haven’t read the article and it can retract if it detects that it is falling? And that it has a lot of useful features? Guess you didn’t and immediately went to the comments.

Alpha, 14 hours agoNo more gadgets that nobody needs, a drop and its goal bye bye!You don’t even know what it is.
How do you know what others need?
Stop thinking that your case is universal.

Yeah, that’s why it retracts, so it doesn’t break.

Alpha, 14 hours agoThere is literally NOTHING cool about a protruding camera, take it!I want a small phone (like the S10) with good quality zoom ranging from 2x (for portraits) to around 6x. It can deliver it.

What is “One drawback is that the sophisticated technology is only available after the camera is retracted, so it is unnecessary in its stationary position.” supposed to mean? The sentence doesn’t really make sense.

rizki1, 17 hours agoPeople still use real cameras in my house, wedding photos, airplanes, nature, vlogs, etc.As a long-time DSLR user, I haven’t brought one in 3-4 years. It’s just heavy to carry around with about 1-2 lenses. I know I’ll get better photos with it, but I want to be able to move around more freely. Now that smartphones can take decent photos, I no longer see the point of carrying a DSLR around. I only see DSLRs for professionals, semi-professionals, and hobbyists now and I’m none of them.

rizki1, 17 hours agoLook how, all camera phones are over $ 1,000, even $ 2,000. I wonder why manufacturers don’t … anymoreBecause they make a huge margin and always go crazy on non-camera features.
To all “why don’t they do x?” question, don’t forget:
Why would anyone go out of their way to make a product other than the same over and over again when the product is basically a need anyway and they’ll have to buy it AND the whole community year is the hate and hate again for things clearly meant for those people but who react as if it was the only option available or if they were forced to buy it.
Don’t like small phones? Don’t buy it.
Don’t like thick phones? Don’t buy it.
Do you prefer Bluetooth to the 3.5mm jack? Do not use the jack and instead use Bluetooth.
Don’t like moving parts? Just buy one of the 99% phones on the market that don’t have more than usual.

Etc, this is common sense, why would anyone complain about something they don’t have to deal with?
The funny thing is when people like me complain that punch holes are all over the place and prevent having other options, I’m the “bad guy” but the guy who says “I don’t like it. not that, even if it will be on one phone, it’s no use to me, so it shouldn’t be done at all “is absolutely right, like what?
So yes sure it had to happen, of course they would end up sticking to just one design and not considering anything for the user and the community anymore, as long as it sold.

This is why all the other markets have diversity and not that of smartphones.
Anyway, toothbrushes, nail clippers, forks, clothes, sunglasses, cars, toilet paper, watches, whatever it is, you name it, except the things that are tied to one design due to physical limitations, anything you can think of about having a ton of diversity, from super rare to most common, there is something for everyone to find.
There are niche niche items out there, and even brands that only make a living from them and are profitable.
From the bigger industry like the car to the very small things everything has variations, options etc. with the exception of the smartphone market.

Smartphones today are basically all the same, almost all of them have either a punch hole or a teardrop notch, if it is a flagship it has curved edges, otherwise it is flat, the quality and variety of the camera (more different lens) depend on the wattage and full of options that the phone has, most of the non-flagship and input products have 2Mp, most of the top of range to mid-range no longer have a 3.5mm jack, they are all roughly the same size.
Etc, etc, etc …

If this market had the same diversity as the rest, we would have amazing phones from all the big brands.
From unique phones like the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha to the modern equivalent of those old huge camera phones, some super powerful but stripped down so they’re cheap like the Pocophone F1, some high end that don’t necessarily have a lot of battery life. ‘cameras, some midrange that have amazing camera with dual periscope Telephoto a Wide, UltraWide, ToF and all that, midrange with curved edges, full range phones with and without Jack.
However, there is a general rule of thumb for features like Jack and Curved edge:
If it can be perfectly ignored, like the Jack, unless there’s a good reason, keep it on while it’s still in use.
While this can’t be ignored, it shouldn’t be too common.

If the processor were like smartphones, the input would only come with a built-in heatsink as cooling and the most powerful would only have a built-in waterblock.
If the auto market did the same, hatchbacks and small cars would all be underpowered and have no options or driving aids (not even power steering) and larger cars like sedans would definitely come. with all the options defaulted and would only be available with extremely powerful engines, and on top of that you would have all the brands doing the exact same design, like Porsche, but no luxury sedan.
And there would be no other models, no pickups, no SUVs, no minivans, etc., except for a few obscure Chinese brands that no one would buy outside of China. (think Infinix, Centric, Elephone, Techno, etc.).
Fortunately, only the smartphone market is this horrible.

Nick Tegrataker, 18 hours agoSo here is a question for you: how difficult is it for you to buy a camera body, to spend a hundred … morePeople always use real cameras in my house, wedding photos, airplanes, nature, vlogging, etc. although camera phones are already a trend of Nokia 808, 1020, Zenfone zoom, galaxy K zoom, and that crazy retractable Oppo. Will this change? I don’t know, but these ultra-tech camera phones have been out since early 2010.

Demongornot, 18 hours agoGuess what, my Poco F2 Pro cost me 300 € used or would have cost me 400 € new (now the price … moreLook how, all camera phones are over $ 1,000, even $ 2,000. I wonder why manufacturers don’t make real camera phones? No need for fast processor unless modified for camera needs only. I think memory, big RAM, 120Hz, etc. aren’t needed either, but they need to support microsd as we don’t need them for gaming.

rizki1, 19 hours agowhen it comes to cameras, netizens here are very busy in the comments, what’s up … moreSo here’s a question for you: How difficult is it for you to buy a camera body, spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on lenses separately, take them with you and change them when you go. your travels depending on the scenario, when your priority is not absolutely the highest image quality that would not crumble when printed on a large canvas, but rather portability and ease of use?

It’s great to see the idea of the physical zoom mechanism as in the Samsung Galaxy K 2014 zoom makes a comeback in modern times. I know it will be some time before we can get a compact 10x physical zoom mechanism, but it’s a good start.
