It must be said that these are pretty iterative upgrades after last year’s big 5G reboot. Apple has redesigned its camera body so that the new lenses are diagonal rather than vertical, and improved the systems behind its snappers so that they can collect almost 50% more light, which should help improve shots in night mode. At the top of the phone there’s a slight redesign, with a 20pc thinner notch and a smaller top selfie camera.

Battery life might be the only big area for improvement. Apple says you should be able to get up to 2.5 hours more of juice with its standard iPhone 13 and 1.5 hours with the iPhone 13 Mini, a nice improvement.

There has also been a price adjustment for UK consumers, although this is largely due to the movement of the pound sterling. These models are around £ 20 cheaper for their original asking price than last year’s models. Pre-orders begin Friday, and the phone will be released on September 24.

  • iPhone 13 Mini: From £ 679 with 128GB of storage, £ 779 for 256GB of storage, and £ 979 for 512GB of storage
  • iPhone 13: From £ 779 with 128GB of storage, £ 879 for 256GB of storage, and £ 1,079 for 512GB of storage

iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max

Apple’s ruggedized iPhones Pro are back, with two new models again. The iPhone 13 Pro is the 6.1-inch model and the iPhone 13 Pro Max for those with large hands and deep pockets (both ways) with a 6.7-inch display. The new colors include an attractive gold and something called “sierra blue”.
