Verizon today announced the launch of the Motorola One 5G UW Ace. This is a more affordable version of the Motorola One 5G Ace released earlier this year. Like all Verizon 5G phones, it will be mmWave compatible, hence the UW or ultra-broadband suffix that the company has attached to the name of the phone. This means it will have the blazing speeds that users would expect from 5G.

As one of the inexpensive Android phones to launch this year, the Motorola One 5G Ace is a known quantity. Reviewing it in January, we found the Motorola One 5G Ace to be a less than ace and “hard to recommend” phone. It ran smoothly and quickly with a long battery life, but the camera was lacking, the speaker was good, and Motorola’s software support remains atrocious.

Looking at the datasheet, it doesn’t seem like Verizon has done much to improve it other than adding mmWave. You’ll find the same 6.7-inch Full HD + display, a 48 MP main camera paired with an 8 MP and 2 MP ultra-wide macro, and a 5G-capable Snapdragon 750G processor with 6GB of RAM. Verizon also added “Verizon Adaptive Sound software” to the box. It’s essentially a spatial surround sound experience that looks a lot like Dolby Atmos. It can be expected to land on older Verizon models via an OTA update, according to the company.

You can pick up the Motorola One 5G UW Ace from Verizon starting at $ 299.99 retail or starting at $ 12.49 per month if you go with a Verizon device payment plan. If you join one of the unlimited plans, Verizon says you can get it for free. I will be available on the Verizon online store starting July 8 for interested customers.
