Madison Parish Hospital will receive a $ 24 million loan from the US Department of Agriculture to build a new hospital.
Nationally, USDA is funding 256 projects through the Direct Community Facility Loans and Grants program. These investments are used for a variety of purposes, such as building or upgrading schools, libraries, clinics and public safety facilities.
In Madison Parish, Madison Parish Hospital is receiving a $ 24 million loan to build a 57,000 square foot critical access hospital.
The critical access hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services, an emergency department and has 16 inpatient beds.
This investment in rural development also includes the construction of a 14,000 square foot rural health clinic and a helicopter landing strip. The existing clinic will be renovated to accommodate administrative offices.

Over 100 types of projects are eligible for community facility funding. Projects must be located in rural areas of 20,000 inhabitants or less.
