Our summer drone series will give you a bird’s eye view of the most beautiful and iconic places in Minnesota.

MANKATO, Minn. – KARE 11 is launching a summer series that we call “KARE in the Air”, where we will be flying drones over some of the most beautiful and iconic places in Minnesota.

The drone recently took off above Minneopa Falls, a double waterfall just west of Mankato.

According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the upper falls are about 10 feet high, while the lower falls drop about 39 feet from a cliff.

A path encircles the falls and descends a limestone staircase to the valley below. Climb the stairs on the other side of the falls and enjoy panoramic views of the valley, which reflects the geology of south-central Minnesota.

While at Minneopa State Part, you can visit Seppmann Mill, a German-style grain mill built from native stone and timber, or hike through the oak savannah and native meadows overlooking the river valley. Minnesota.

The park is also home to a bison herd, which visitors can observe from the comfort of their cars on a special access road.

Minneopa State Park is located in Grand Mankato, about a 90-minute drive from Minneapolis.

KARE 11 received special clearance from the DNR to fly over the falls, as drones are generally prohibited in state parks.
