IAF personnel were on alert during Jammu drone attack, acted quickly after blasts: sources

Indian Air Force personnel at Jammu Air Base acted swiftly after hearing the two drones enter the area and detonate them, sources involved in the investigation said.

Two IAF personnel deployed to Jammu Air Base had heard the sound of drones entering the air base late at night after 1:30 a.m.

“Both staff members were vigilant at their respective positions and could hear drones entering their area. Within 30 seconds of the noise, explosions occurred,” said sources involved in the investigations.

Shortly after the blasts, staff rushed to the scene of the blast and rescued the only person in the room where the blast took place, the sources said.

The drones could not be seen by staff as they did not have their lights on.

Sources said staff statements would help investigators find more details about the case, they said.

The two personnel are now said to be making statements to the National Investigation Agency which has been tasked with investigating this attack.

Multiple agencies were involved and all air bases were placed on high alert to prevent such a possible attack by terrorists.

On Sunday, two drones were used to carry out an attack inside the air force base in Jammu, sources said. “There was no damage to any aircraft in the blasts. Two staff members were slightly injured,” they said.
