Winger Jordan roberts admits his loan transfer to Motherwell is a change to settle in and kickstart his career.

Roberts is on loan from Hearts until the end of this season and is still under contract at the Tynecastle club this summer, but says “we’ll cross this bridge when I need it”.

For now, he’s happy to continue what he’s doing at Fir Park and is hoping for his first start in the 0-0 with St Mirren midweek is just the start of a series of games, which continues today at Hibs.

The 27-year-old said: “It was a late move in January, but you have to be prepared, look at the big picture and be realistic about things.

“The team was growing at Hearts, but the opportunity was to come here and end the season strong, to contribute wherever I can with a few goals and assists.

“You want to play at the highest level, whether it’s in the south or here, and you want to compete against the best players, so for me, having the opportunity to come and do that was fantastic, and keep it going for a long time.

“I was lucky to have the manager’s opportunity here to come and play games.

“I thought the guys were brilliant and unlucky not to take the win, but we go into tomorrow with full confidence knowing how we played on Wednesday night.

“My last 90 minutes was the first game of the season against Dundee for Hearts, but for me now it’s just about ending this season strong, trying to contribute where I can, and I hope to do well. here and get into next season wherever I am.

“I’m still under contract with Hearts this summer, but for me it’s about playing football, so I’ll cross that bridge when I need to.”

Roberts says he hopes to help wherever he can, make his mark and show what he can do.

He said: “I think when you come into a new club you have to adapt as early as possible.

“A manager will have his style of play, and the players will be used to the way they play under that manager, so for me it’s just about getting in and adjusting as soon as possible, giving the team something they might not have had, or bring something to the team that can help them move forward and climb the league ranks.

“The main objective is to go there, leave everything on the pitch and win games.

“For me, wherever I go, I try to give the club my all and I don’t want to feel like I’m looking back and thinking you should have done more.

“Whenever you have the opportunity to go to a new place, you have to leave your mark and bring something new.

“For me to come here and have the opportunity, I’m grateful for that, but when you cross that line it’s about giving your all, turning heads and leaving your mark on the game, that is. so that’s what I’m trying to do. “
