FAIRHAVEN – Two people were seriously injured after a car crash in Fairhaven early Sunday.
Fairhaven Police and Fire Departments were called just after midnight in a single-car accident on Howland Road. They arrived to find two people trapped in the car, which was on fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire using extinguishers.
First responders were able to immediately remove the driver from the vehicle and the person was transported to Rhode Island hospital by paramedics. The passenger, however, was “seriously trapped,” according to Fairhaven Fire Chief Todd Correia.
The firefighters eventually managed to get the passenger out of the vehicle and they were airlifted to a hospital in Rhode Island.
Correia said the occupants were seriously injured but did not appear to be life threatening.
Fairhaven Police are investigating the crash.
