The iPhone 12 wasn’t that bad for taking pictures, but the 13 series crushes the blacks, makes the image look washed out indoors, and the dynamic range is one of the worst, which even happens.

The only people I’ve seen claiming the iPhone takes the best photos are the sold-out reviews on YouTube. They have no credibility to begin with.
In fact, if you have knowledge and skills in photography, you will know that the result of the iPhone is very disappointing compared to the best in the field (Huawei and Xiaomi in particular). You get a lot more detail, higher dynamic range, and better colors.
The rating above is for the main camera only. Ultrawide and telephoto results aren’t even in the same league as the competition. Apple is a little behind in these areas.
The one area where the iPhone arguably does well is 4K video. I have to admit that iPhones capture good quality video, but there’s still a lot to do.

I don’t consider DXO to be a reliable source, but it was very obvious that the Vivo was going to win, based on its camera setup. There seems to be a concept called tech IQ, and we’re seeing more and more evidence that Apple fans tend to be dumber and less educated than Android users.
