Dunzo Digital and Skye Air have announced the start of drone vaccine delivery in addition to drone delivery trials of other critical health care supplies such as drugs and blood packs.
Trials will begin on September 20 in Vikarabad, Telangana and run through September 25, during which the duo will demonstrate several use cases related to healthcare logistics.

“We believe that our participation in the ‘Medicines from the Sky’ project will facilitate a more connected state and country. This technology will allow almost instant access to vaccines and medicines from the most populous to the most remote areas of India in the near future. Skye Air, part of the Dunzo Med Air consortium for the Telangana government’s Medicines from the Sky project, will work with Dunzo Digital to enable faster and more efficient healthcare logistics during the 6-day trial.

Mr. Swapnik Jakkampundi, co-founder of Skye Air, said: “We have had a successful trial of Telangana so far. The Dunzo Med Air consortium will have several test use cases, including extended and reverse logistics in Vikarabad. These will be BVLOS trials that will continue over the next six days. Drones will deliver up to 12 km in an expected 18-minute timeframe, with each drone carrying vaccines in temperature-controlled boxes powered by Bagmo. We are happy to share Dunzo’s vision to enable deliveries via drones. “
Dunzo Digital is a hyper-local on-demand delivery service company based in Bangalore, backed by Google. Drone delivery technology company Skye Air, which focuses on an end-to-end ecosystem for drone-based logistics, will lead it as part of the Dunzo Med Air consortium led by hyper-local giant Dunzo Digital. Skye Air further said it would make around 50 flights, all delivering vaccines.
