Drones, K-9 used in search of Jefferson County man | Local News

Drones and K-9 units were used on Monday to search for a Jansen man with a warrant who was found hiding from police in a cornfield on Monday.

Just before 9 p.m., deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were trying to locate a known man with an arrest warrant near Jansen.

The suspect was found near the Farmers Coop in Jansen in a vehicle. A press release said the deputy tried to stop the man, but fled in a vehicle. The deputy chased the man to his residence on the north side of Jansen. The suspect has been identified as Trenton E. Wages, 46.

Wages fled on foot to his residence for a brief minute before colliding with an unharvested cornfield behind his residence.

A perimeter was established and a search was carried out. After a 2.5 hour search with K-9s, thermal imaging drones and planes, Wages was located and arrested near the residence hiding in the field. After his arrest, a search warrant was executed on the residence.

Many firearms and ammunition were inside the residence. There were also drugs and paraphernalia inside the residence.

Wages was arrested on the current warrant as well as other weapons charges which include possession of a weapon by a banned person because he was a convicted felon.
