A drone was spotted near the international border in the Arnia area of ​​Jammu late Tuesday night. BSF personnel fired at the drone when it was spotted.

After BSF personnel opened fire, the drone disappeared. The drone operators pulled it out on the Pakistani side.

BSF in a statement said: “On the intermediate night of July 13 and 14, a flashing red light was observed by our troops in the Arnia sector around 9:52 p.m. at a distance of 200 meters on their side. “alert pulled from their position towards the flashing red light, due to which it came back. The area is being searched. Nothing has been found so far.”

In what was the first case of Pakistan-based terrorists deploying drones to strike vital facilities, two bombs were dropped on the IAF station in Jammu in the early hours of June 27, slightly injuring two people.

The explosions took place around 1:40 a.m. six minutes apart. The first explosion ripped off the roof of a single-storey building in the technical area of ​​the airport occupied by the IAF in the Satwari area on the outskirts of Jammu. The second was on the ground.

Samba, Ramban and Baramulla district authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have banned the storage, sale or possession of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles.

Authorities in Srinagar and the border districts of Rajouri and Kathua have already imposed such a ban after the recent terrorist attack on an IAF station in Jammu with armed drones.

In Baramulla, those with drone cameras or other similar types of unmanned aerial vehicles have been ordered to drop them off at local police stations.

Ramban District Magistrate (DM) Mussarat Islam said the ban was ordered following the frequent use of small drones to capture photos and videos at social and cultural gatherings and the risk of its use by anti-national elements. .

According to the decree, the move will avoid any confusion in the current situation to secure the airspace near vital facilities and densely populated areas.

“Any drone operating in the district must be registered. The owner of the drone and its operator will be responsible for all damage suffered, to person or property, due to improper handling or malfunction of the drone or the like, ”the order states.
